artist-in-residency / new mexico

 

Annex:art is pleased to offer its Artist-in-Residency New Mexico. This short-term, self-directed residency program is being offered in cooperation with Art Oasis San Fidel, located in beautiful Cibola County about 45 minutes west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The program is open to creative individuals working in any genre, including visual art, music and literature.  Residencies for this program are available for a minimum of 2 weeks, with a maximum of 8 weeks.

 

Dates:  May 15 - August 31 (annually)

Goals: To provide artists with a creative environment and studio space to create a body of work or complete a project which may not be possible in their home studio; to enable each resident artist to exchange ideas and creative energy with other international artists and visitors to San Fidel . 

 

Criteria: The program seeks applications from artists who have a specific purpose or project to be completed during the residency and whose participation in an international program will benefit his/her current career goals and funding opportunities. The details of the project or specific purpose should be outlined in the artist's application submission. This program will provide living and work space for a minimum of two weeks up to two months of residency.  Other residency opportunities are available. 

Eligibility: International artists must be 21 years old to participate and eligible to travel to and stay in the United States for the period of his/her residency. Priority is given to self-taught and emerging artists.

 

Venue: Art Oasis San Fidel is located in an off-the-beaten-path, historic ghost town approximately 45 minutes west of Albuquerque on the old Route 66 . Our rural high desert oasis / artist retreat offers artists the chance to kick back and reconnect with all things natural. The surrounding area offers an abundance of spiritual and creative energy for artists to tap into. The rich native culture and enchanting New Mexican surroundings ensure that the artist's stay will be an inspirational one.

 

Fee: The cost of a self-funded residency with space galore is $375 per week and includes a private room and shared bath with use of the kitchen and other common area facilities. Food and beverages are extra. (monthly rates available for longer term residencies)

 

Availability:  May 15 - August 31

 

Annex:art, in cooperation with its partner venue Gallery 66, can assist in coordinating an exhibition of the artist's finished project.
