Quadratfuß - jury members
Annex:art is pleased to welcome our distinquished jury members for the 2016 Berlin edition of the Quadratfuß exhibition.
Laurel Lueders is a visual artist with an active studio practice and international exhibition record. She most recently completed an artist’s residency with Annex Art in Berlin, Germany and had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (Milwaukee, WI,) Opus Projects (New York, NY,) and Galerie Muellers as part of the 17th Pro-Vinz Kunsttage (Quedlinburg, Germany.) Laurel holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts. She is currently a full-time Professor in the Arts and Sciences Department at LIM College in New York City.
Laurel has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Edward U. Demmer Foundation Grant, two U.S. Consulate Art and Cultural Grants, the Paula Rhodes Memorial, a Lower Saxony Endowment for Fine Art, the Susan Wirth Fellowship for the Arts, a Design Studies Research Grant from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and an Outstanding Service to the Community Award from the United Way of Dane County. Laurel lives and works in New York City and Berlin (Potsdam.)
Andranik Aroutiounian is a visual artist focused on painting and drawing. He is of Armenian descent and has lived in various places including Armenia, Madagascar, Russia, France, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. He currently lives and works in New York City.
Andranik earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Art from the School of Fine Arts in Geneva, Switzerland, (Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Genève), working with Professor Wilheim from the Sorbonne University (l’Université de Sorbonne.)
Andranik was the recipient of a Willem de Kooing Acadamy Fellowship for Painting. He regularly exhibits his work in solo and group shows internationally, and is involved in various curatorial and collaborative projects as well. Recent solo exhibitions include Missing Note at Four Arts Cooperative and Skyline, in tandem with Chelsea Open Studios, both in New York City. He most recently curated the show On White at Opus Projects in New York City.
Bojan Hocevar is a visual artist and independent curator. Originally from Croatia, he has been a resident of Berlin for more than 20 years. His artistic talents include painting, photography and installations. Bojan has curated many international exhibitions in and around Berlin, as well as in his native Croatia.
He is also the founder of the artist collectives Berlin Heartbeat and Good Times Factory. Both groups have had extensive exposure in the Berlin art scene in addition to participating in international exhibitions. Some recent exhibitions curated by Hocevar include Super Heros - let us kriptonize you (2012) PCB Projectraum in Berlin-Wedding, Rapid City (2012) Galerija Makina in Pula Croatia, Übermensch - are we superhumans? (2013) Galerie Neurotitan in Berlin-Mitte, Humanus Touristicus – last call to paradise (2014) Galerija Fontikus in Groznjan, Croatia,, Oh Wire [oh wai ə] (2015) Kunsthalle Oktogon in Hitzaker, Germany.
In addition to his curatorial work, Bojan has exhibited his work in many international exhibitions.
David Montgomery is a creative artist and art historian based in St.Louis, Missouri. He specializes in oil and acrylic painting and in Greek and 19th Century Art. He has 37 years of teaching experience in a wide variety of studio and art history courses.
He has curated numerous student art shows in northern Missouri and at the American School of Kuwait, where he served as Fine Arts Department Chair, and as a supervisor of the Cairo, Egypt Fine Arts Festival.
He holds a B.S.E. in art from Truman State University and an M.A. and PhD. from the University of Missouri--Columbia. His dissertation is entitled: William Powell Frith--A Reevaluation of his Artistic Career. He is currently a full professor at St. Louis Community College--Meramec where he has participated in the annual faculty exhibition for the past 17 years, and in other exhibitions in the St. Louis area.
