2018 Quadratfuss - jury members

Annex:art is pleased to welcome our distinguished jury members for the 2018 edition of the Quadratfuss.

Mitch Berg is an Albuquerque based visual artist focused on fused glass, sculpture and mixed media assemblage. He is also the founder of the newly formed Fuego art school and studio project in the south valley. His project offers artist workshops and residencies with the primary focus on fused glass and artistic welding.

Originally from south Florida, he later attended the University of Montana, where he earned his degree in Journalism. After completing his studies at the university Mitch relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he eventually set up his studio. He worked and exhibited in Santa Fe for nearly 30 years before ultimately relocating to Albuquerque.

Over the course of his career, Mitch has been in more than 250 juried art

shows throughout the United States. Additionally he has served a jury member for the 2015 New Orleans Contemporary Art Show and the 2016 Santa Fe Recycled Art Fair.

Laurel Lueders is a visual artist with an active studio practice and international exhibition record. She most recently completed an artist’s residency with Annex Art in Berlin, Germany and had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (Milwaukee, WI,) Opus Projects (New York, NY,) and Galerie Muellers as part of the 17th Pro-Vinz Kunsttage (Quedlinburg, Germany.) Laurel holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts. She is currently a full-time Professor in the Arts and Sciences Department at LIM College in New York City.

Laurel has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Edward U. Demmer Foundation Grant, two U.S. Consulate Art and Cultural Grants, the Paula Rhodes Memorial, a Lower Saxony Endowment for Fine Art, the Susan Wirth Fellowship for the Arts, a Design Studies Research Grant from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and an Outstanding Service to the Community Award from the United Way of Dane County. Laurel lives and works in New York City and Berlin (Potsdam.)
